Machine Vision Systems for Machine Builders

All of our customers have specific needs and requirements. And being engineers, we love to create optimised machine vision systems for each use case.
One of the specific industry sectors Visicon serve is machine builders. They’re limited on space and need to work to a budget that maintains profitability on their build.
To make the best machine tools, machine builders want industry-leading Cognex inspections; it just needs to be at a price-point that fits in with their business model.
Machine builders don’t necessarily need all the bells and whistles of the higher-end Cognex cameras and thankfully we have the perfect solution.
Our Go-To Camera
The Cognex In-Sight 3800 is usually our go-to camera. It’s an extremely capable camera: IP67 rating meaning it’s completely protected from dust and water, it has loads of expandability ports, interchangeable lights and lenses, multi-coloured lighting and replaceable filters. If you’re looking for the best, then the Cognex In-Sight 3800 is the industry-leading machine vision camera.
And while you may not need all the functionality immediately, it’s usually best to future-proof yourself by installing this highly capable camera.

The Right Tool for the Job
As with any application, it’s important to use the right tool for the job and for machine builders specifically, the In-Sight 3800 isn’t always the right choice.
Not because it can’t do the job, but because it can do much more than they need!
This brings the price point up and can make it commercially unfeasible for machine builders.
Enter the Cognex In-Sight 8900! This is the latest micro-camera from Cognex and for its size and cost, it really packs a punch.

You sacrifice a few features of the In-Sight 3800, like a lower IP rating and no integrated light. But with similar processing power, it fits perfectly into a machine build and has an impressive range of features for such a small unit.
The In-Sight 8900 has ethernet, USB and digital I.O. powered by 24 volts – which is a first for a Cognex micro-camera.
It’s also available with either a standard C-mount manual lens or can be adapted to fit a liquid lens for autofocus.
It’s an impressive piece of kit!
